South Central Los Angeles Regional Center for Persons with Developmental Disabilities, Inc. (SCLARC) is a private, non-profit organization that is a comprehensive resource for evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, advocacy and support for people diagnosed with developmental disabilities.
Since 1974 SCLARC has served individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities and children with developmental delays. Through a contract with the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), services provided include intake, assessment, diagnosis, case management, early intervention, and life-long service coordination. Additionally, Early Start early intervention services for children with developmental delays, or at risk for delays, under the age of 3. Lastly, we provide supportive services for individuals diagnosed with a permanent developmental disability, ages 3 and above.
SCLARC works to ensure that eligible individuals receive support to enjoy the highest quality life possible in their community. We serve the cities of Bell, Bell Gardens, Maywood, Paramount, Cudahy, Downey, Huntington Park, South Gate, Compton, Lynwood, Gardena, Vernon and Carson, as well as the South Los Angeles area, including the communities of Watts, Crenshaw, Hyde Park, Leimert Park, View Park and Baldwin Hills.

Not all special needs are the same, so every SCLARC staff member is specially trained in listening, communicating, and problem solving.
You will be partnered with a caring Service Coordinator who will work with you to navigate various systems of service and link you to the appropriate resources while assisting you in receiving services that support and promote community inclusion.
Each of the 21 Regional Centers throughout the state of California serves its own geographic area. SCLARC serves five (5) County of Los Angeles Districts including:
- Compton
- San Antonio
- South
- Southeast;
- Southwest
Our service area is bounded by Washington Blvd. on the north, La Cienega Blvd. on the west, and the eastern and southern boundaries of Downey, Paramount, Compton, Dominguez Hills and parts of Carson.
SCLARC contracts with the State Department of Developmental Services (DDS) to coordinate services for children with developmental delays and individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. SCLARC serves individuals of all ages with the following diagnosis:
- Autism
- Cerebral Palsy
- Epilepsy
- Intellectual Disabilities
- Other disabilities similar to an intellectual disability
