Magali Ochoa
Board Member
Ms. Ochoa is the mother and advocate for her two sons who are both developmentally disabled and served by SCLARC. In 2011, Ms. Ochoa founded “Living Inside the Puzzle” a support group that brings information, workshops, education and trainings to the special needs community. She was recognized by the White House for her tenacious efforts.
Ms. Ochoa is a team player who loves being part of a team. She collaborates with other networks to bring support to parents with children with disabilities, however, the group is inclusive to all who are in need of support. She is proactive and wants to be a voice for parents by providing them with trainings, special education, and resources after they receive the diagnosis of their loved one.
In 2018, Ms. Ochoa was acknowledged for her work with the “Latinos In Action California.” In 2019, she also received a recognition by the City of Long Beach “Latino in Action Leadership Program.” In 2018, she was awarded a Certificate of Completion for her participation in the Mental Health Workshops presented by the “Mental Health Promoters.”
Ms. Ochoa loves being challenged. As a SCLARC board member, Ms. Ochoa wants to reduce the fears and anxiety that parents face by helping them better understand how to navigate the various systems that they must interact with to support their loved ones. She believes with knowledge anything is possible.
